Who we are

Bowker Accountants Ltd (“we”, “us”) is the controller for personal data submitted through this website and our published contact channels. We are based in Manchester, United Kingdom, and can be reached at info@bowkeraccountants.com or 07487 766983.

Data we collect

If you send the enquiry form we collect the details you enter, which may include client type, services required, business name, industry, turnover band, employee count, your name, email address, phone number and any message. If you email, call or message us we also process the information you choose to send on those channels.

If you consent to analytics, Google Analytics collects information about how you reached and used this website. This can include pages viewed, approximate location, referrer, browser and device information, and interactions such as accepted enquiry submissions or clicks on our phone, email and WhatsApp links. We do not send the contents of enquiry forms, names, email addresses, phone numbers or free-text messages to Google Analytics.

Server and hosting logs may also record technical data such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested as part of operating and securing the website.

How we use data

We use enquiry data to respond to you, to understand the work you may need, and, if we take you on as a client, to set up an engagement. The lawful bases we rely on are steps prior to a contract, legitimate interests in running and securing the practice, and legal obligation where tax or accounting law requires us to keep records.

We use analytics to understand website performance, popular content, how visitors find us and which contact routes they use. Analytics processing is based on your consent. Google Analytics is not loaded until you accept analytics, and you can reject or withdraw consent without affecting access to the website.

Processors and sharing

Website enquiries are sent through Web3Forms so that the message reaches our inbox. Our website is hosted on Amazon Web Services. If you accept analytics, analytics data is processed using Google Analytics, provided by Google Ireland Limited and its subprocessors. We do not sell your data. We share it only with service providers who help us run the practice, or where the law requires it.

Some service providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where this happens, we rely on the transfer safeguards described in the relevant provider terms and data-processing agreements. You can contact us for more information about those safeguards.

Retention

Unsuccessful enquiries are kept only as long as needed to complete the conversation and any follow-up, then deleted or archived according to our internal retention practice. Client records are kept for the periods required by UK tax and professional rules.

Google Analytics user-level and event-level data is configured to be retained for 14 months. Aggregated reporting may remain available for longer. Your analytics preference is stored on your device for about six months, after which we ask again.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, corrections, erasure, restriction, or to object to processing, and you may complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office. Contact info@bowkeraccountants.com to make a request.

You can change or withdraw analytics consent at any time by selecting Cookie settings in the website footer. Withdrawing consent stops future analytics collection from this browser and removes Google Analytics cookies that this website can access.
