Accounting and tax services for healthcare professionals and landlords
We look after the day-to-day numbers and filings behind your business, tailored to clinical practice and rental property, so you have a clear view of tax, cash flow and compliance

We work with GPs, locums, dentists, pharmacists and allied healthcare providers who want a compact firm, plain English advice and a predictable way of working. That means understanding NHS Pension considerations, mixed NHS and private income, and the practicalities of running a clinical practice — not just filing a tax return once a year.
We also work with landlords, from a single buy-to-let through to portfolio and limited company landlords, who want their rental accounts, Section 24 tax position and Capital Gains Tax planning handled by someone who understands property finance in detail — not a generalist filling in a template built for a different kind of client.
After a short discovery call we agree a fixed-price engagement so there are no surprise invoices, set up a secure portal for documents and e-signatures, and keep your bookkeeping, payroll and filings on a clear monthly and annual timetable. You always know what's due, when, and what it costs before the work starts.
We price the engagement, not the hour, because it means you can ask a question without watching a meter run. Most clients are on a fixed monthly fee that covers bookkeeping support and scales with the size of the business, with one-off pieces of work — like a claim or a restructuring review — quoted separately and agreed before we start.
Bookkeeping, year-end accounts, VAT, payroll and Xero or FreeAgent support for healthcare practices and rental portfolios.
This is the core of what keeps a practice or portfolio compliant and on top of its numbers: monthly bookkeeping that's actually reconciled rather than left until year end, statutory accounts and Corporation Tax or Self Assessment returns filed well ahead of the deadline, and VAT and payroll run on a timetable you can rely on — whether that's a locum's mixed NHS and private income or a portfolio of let properties. Most clients start here before adding tax relief work on top.
- Bookkeeping & bank reconciliations
- Year-end accounts & Companies House filings
- Corporation Tax & Self Assessment returns
- VAT registration & returns (MTD compliant)
- Payroll & workplace pensions for practice staff
- Rental income & landlord bookkeeping
- Xero & FreeAgent setup, cleanup & training
Reliefs, allowances and planning specific to clinical income and rental property, so nothing is left on the table.
Good compliance work keeps you out of trouble; this is where we look for money you're entitled to but might otherwise miss — NHS Pension annual allowance planning, capital allowances on clinic equipment or let properties, mortgage interest relief and Section 24 planning for landlords, and the marriage allowance and loss relief that get overlooked when accounts are prepared on autopilot. We review this annually, not just when you ask.
- NHS Pension annual allowance & pension savings statements
- Capital allowances on clinic & practice equipment
- Mortgage interest relief & Section 24 planning for landlords
- Marriage Allowance checks & claims
- Capital Gains Tax planning on property disposals
- Loss relief & payment on account reviews
- Incorporation reviews for practices & property portfolios
How it works
Discovery call
A short call to understand your business, how your books are currently kept, and what's driving the enquiry — a change of accountant, a new company, or just wanting things run better.
Fixed-price proposal & set-up
We send a fixed-price proposal, set you up on Xero or FreeAgent and a secure portal, and agree who does what and by when — no vague scope and no surprise bills later
Monthly rhythm
Bookkeeping, payroll and VAT run to a monthly timetable, with year-end accounts, Corporation Tax and Self Assessment filed well ahead of the deadline rather than in the final week.
Frequently asked questions
How much do you charge?
Most engagements run on a fixed monthly fee agreed after a discovery call, based on your transaction volume, whether you run payroll, and which filings you need. You'll have a clear quote before any work starts, with one-off pieces of work priced separately.
Can you take over from our current accountant partway through the year?
Yes, this is a routine switch. We handle professional clearance with your outgoing accountant, request your records and prior filings, and can usually pick up bookkeeping and any upcoming deadlines without a gap in compliance.
Do you work with Xero and FreeAgent, or can we keep our current system?
We're a Xero and FreeAgent-focused practice and most clients run on one of the two, including setup, cleanup and training if you're moving across. If you're on a different system we can usually still work with it, though Xero and FreeAgent tend to make the monthly process faster for everyone.
How quickly do you turn things around?
We aim to respond to routine queries within 1–2 working days and keep ongoing work up to date throughout the year. Year-end accounts and tax returns are prepared in good time ahead of filing deadlines
When do I need to register for Making Tax Digital (MTD) for Income Tax?
If you're a landlord or self-employed — including locum and sessional healthcare work — and your combined gross income from property and/or self-employment is over £50,000, you need to use Making Tax Digital for Income Tax from April 2026, with the threshold dropping to £30,000 from April 2027 and £20,000 from April 2028. We check where you sit against these thresholds, get your records onto compatible software such as Xero or FreeAgent in good time, and handle the quarterly updates once you're in scope, so the change doesn't catch you out.
If your work is clinical, start with our healthcare accountants page for locums, GPs, dentists, pharmacies and allied providers.
If you let property, visit our landlord accountants page for buy-to-let, portfolio and limited company landlords.
